Easy beef roast (2 ingredients)

1 kg top round beef roast
1 tsp black pepper
Preheat the oven to 400° F (200 ºC). Allow meat to stand at room temperature for 20 minutes. Pat dry it with paper towels and rub the black pepper over the meat.
Place an ovenproof sauté pan over moderate heat and sear the meat on all sides.
Move the pan to the oven, reducing its temperature to 350° F (175ºC), and roast until the internal temperature reaches 125° F (50 ºC), about 50 minutes. Remove the meat from the oven, cover loosely with foil and let stand for 10 minutes before carving into thin slices.
